New Stall Tactics
I've written about our bedtime woes before, but tonight we reached a new low and had a breakthough. It was about 7:30 when Tim announced that it was time for us to take Collin upstairs to read some stories. Collin, who had been asking to watch Mickey Mouse and Over the Hedge all night long, promptly replied "No, Daddy. Collin wants to watch the news!" Anything to avoid going to bed, but the news is a new one for us. So we took Collin upstairs, read him a few stories and told him it was time for bed. Then we reflected on why no one else we know has problems like ours at bedtime while Collin screamed at the top of his lungs. At some point he must have realized that the screaming was futile because I heard him upstairs playing and singing. We know he wasn't in bed when we went downstairs, but when Tim came back upstairs to pick Collin up off the floor and put him in bed, he was already there! This is a big deal for us, keep your fingers crossed that he keeps it up!

Johnny quickly quits whatever he is doing once he realizes he has no audience. It's no fun if no one is listening!
Have you read "The No-Cry Sleep Solution For Toddlers and Preschoolers" by Elizabeth Pantley? This book solved a lot of our sleep problems with Johnny. It's a definite must to check out.
Also, J quit napping around 2 years, and bedtime has been MUCH easier since then.
Poor Trent wanted to watch "Melmo" today but our cable has been acting funny. Not to mention- we have no idea what box houses his (or our) clothes or his monitor. My mom had to rock him to sleep tonight- but what happens tomorrow???
Trent's stall tactic is to ask to watch Clue (Blue's Clues)... and throwing his stuffed animals out of his crib and crying for them by name "Melmo... Melmo! Mou-Mou! Mrow! Dido! Baaa!" (That's Elmo, Mickey Mouse, Kitty Cat, Leo from Little Einsteins, and Baby Lamb for those who don't speak Trent).
